Vertical files (12792 items, dated 1939-1992) of the AAAA, annual reports from member agencies, films, videotapes, member agency stock reports, and other printed materials. Vertical file topics include anti-trust issues, government regulations, political advertising, Federal Trade Commission hearings, and extensive files on children and television advertising. Formats in the vertical files include dissertations, pamphlets, clippings, working papers, speeches, reports, and other printed materials. Films and videos contain interviews with such advertising executives as David Ogilvy, George Gallup, and William Bernbach. The addition (02-005) (375 items, .6 linear feet; dated 1918-[1929] and n.d.) contains primarily minutes of Executive Board meetings (1918-1923), including drafts of the published 1923 minutes of the organization. Also included are itineraries, programs, correspondence and other documents detailing James O'Shaughnessy's visit to London for The International Advertising Convention (1924), copies of speeches given at the Associated Advertising Clubs of the World convention in Philadelphia (1926); and a pin with Mrs. [James] O'Shaughnessy's name on it from the Weltreklame World Advertising) Congress in Berlin ([1929]). Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.
